Early in the summer, Jared had an opportunity to travel to the center of Tennessee to encourage a large group of young summer missionaries. The setting was the lovely conference center at Camp Linden. The occasion was the summer training camp for Child Evangelism Fellowship of Tennessee. Each year, CEF gathers youth from across the state to train them to work together in teams to share the Gospel in churches, community centers, and neighborhoods in the areas in which they live. The name of the ministry program is called CYIA, or Christian Youth In Action.
It was a blessing for Jared and I to serve these young people in this way. There were over 80 young men and women gathered to receive Jared’s words of wisdom and encouragement. Many of then expressed gratitude for his challenge to them. Some may not be aware of this, but when Jared was a younger man in Kenya, he received training from CEF and has felt a kinship with their organization for many many years.
We appreciate the invitation by our CEF friend, Randy Nicholas, to speak at the camp. May God bless these young people as they serve the Lord this summer and in the years ahead!
